You are starting to form your ideas and are taking early steps toward making your dream business a reality.
  • Exploring what type of business to start.
  • Might be working on an initial business plan and/or locating funding for business launch.
  • Checking out the competition for ideas on what to do.
  • Learning about all aspects of starting a business.
  • Reviewing financial scenarios to determine how feasible idea is.

Operating Newly Formed Business

(Launched)

You have taken the next step and decided to move forward on your ideas.
  • Applied for your business license.
  • Been operating your business under one year either part time or full time.
  • If operating part time, you may be considering a transition from your current employer to operating your business full time.
  • Exploring various marketing opportunities to determine how to grow business.
  • Reviewing financial impact of taking the next step.

Established

Business

You have been operating your business for at least one year. You may or may not have employees at this stage.
  • Serving customers on a regular basis.
  • Conducting marketing and sales activities to generate a regular stream of new customers.
